Hasami calls the body semi-porcelain, and it combines qualities of porcelain and earthenware. Temperature and humidity in the kiln change how the color and texture come out, so no two pieces are exactly alike. Takuhiro Shinomoto of Tortoise in Venice, California designed the line, and it is made in Hasami, Nagasaki, where porcelain has been produced for almost 400 years.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThree sizes, holding roughly 12, 24 and 32 ounces, and each shares its diameter with a Hasami plate, which sits on top as a lid, and with the other Hasami bowls of that size, so a set stores as one stack.
