The ferm Living Ceramic Centerpiece takes the shape of a shallow, hand-woven basket rendered entirely in ceramic, sized to hold fruit or bread at the center of a table. Each piece is hand-shaped using a traditional basket-weaving technique adapted to pottery, then finished with a glazed surface. Because every piece is shaped and glazed by hand, form and glaze vary slightly from one centerpiece to the next.
ferm Living, based in Copenhagen, worked with artisans practicing traditional basket weaving to translate that technique into pottery for this piece. Hand-wash it rather than running it through the dishwasher, since the glaze is best cared for gently.
