Hasami Porcelain Tall Bowl – Amakusa Clay Blend with Matte Unglazed Finish
Crushed Amakusa Stone and Porcelain Clay, Made in Hasami, Japan
The Hasami Porcelain Tall Bowl is made in Hasami, Japan from a blend of crushed Amakusa stone and porcelain clay. The unglazed matte finish has a slightly grainy, dry texture. The profile is tall and straight-sided with no taper.
Dishwasher-Safe Unglazed Porcelain with Modular Stacking
The Tall Bowl is microwave- and dishwasher-safe; unglazed porcelain at this level typically requires hand-washing, and the dense Amakusa clay body eliminates that constraint. It stacks flush with other Hasami pieces of the same diameter across the full ceramic and wood range. Food-safe and unglazed, the matte surface develops a natural patina with regular use.
- Natural Matte Porcelain Surface – The unglazed finish in the natural colorway shows the clay body directly — warm, slightly off-white, with a fine-grain texture that reads differently under different light conditions throughout the day.
- Amakusa Stone and Porcelain Clay Body – The crushed stone composite produces a dense, heavyweight body relative to the bowl's volume, which stabilizes it on the table and gives the piece a substantial feel in the hand.
- Tall Straight-Sided Form – The vertical profile offers significantly more capacity than a shallow bowl of the same diameter — suited for noodles, grain bowls, or soups where depth matters as much as width.
- Same-Diameter Stack Compatibility – Formed to match the diameter standard of other Hasami pieces, the tall bowl aligns cleanly with plates, trays, and shorter bowls for compact vertical storage.
- Microwave and Dishwasher Safe – The unglazed body is tested for repeated heat exposure without warping, and the natural matte surface maintains its character without degrading under standard dishwasher cycles.
- Hasami District Production – Made in Nagasaki's Hasami district, where the regional clay composition and kiln techniques have been refined over centuries of continuous ceramic production.
