A pressed glass tumbler produced by Toyo Sasaki Glass, scaled to the footprint of the Hasami Porcelain ceramic and wood range. Made in Japan.
The Hasami Porcelain Glass Tumbler is pressed rather than blown, which produces consistent wall thickness and a dense, even base. Toyo Sasaki has been pressing glass in Japan for over a century. That production discipline translates here into walls that hold their tolerance across units — you won't notice variation between glasses the way you sometimes do with blown production runs.
Stacks with the Hasami ceramic range
The tumbler shares the 3" Hasami diameter, so it sits flush alongside porcelain mugs and bowls in the same coordinated table setting. A wood lid from the ceramic range will cover it. Dishwasher-safe.
- Toyo Sasaki Glass Collaboration – Produced with one of Japan's established pressed glass manufacturers, the tumbler is formed to the same dimensional tolerances as the Hasami ceramic pieces — not an approximation, but a coordinated production designed to align across materials.
- Pressed Clear Glass Construction – The pressing process produces consistent wall thickness and a weighted base that gives the tumbler a stable, substantial feel in hand — different in character from blown glass, which varies slightly in thickness and weight between pieces.
- Diameter-Matched to Hasami Ceramics – The tumbler is scaled to match the diameter of Hasami porcelain bowls and plates, so it stacks alongside ceramic pieces in storage rather than requiring separate glass-only shelving.
- Weighted Base for Stability – The heavier base lowers the tumbler's center of gravity, reducing the risk of tipping on a table — relevant for a vessel used with both water and wine, where fills and pours vary in weight distribution.
- Multi-Use Format – Proportioned for water, wine, or light food prep — the opening diameter and depth are appropriate for drinking and for holding condiments or small sides without requiring a separate vessel type.
- Cross-Material Modular Integration – The tumbler introduces glass into a system that includes porcelain and oak components, allowing a complete table setting to be built from a single design family without visual inconsistency between material types.
