The Hasami Porcelain Mug in Black is finished in a flat glaze over a high-fired body of Amakusa pottery stone and refined clay sourced near Hasami Village. The surface stays dry and stone-like rather than slick. The dense body gives the mug real weight, walls of even thickness, and a rim fired to resist chipping. The unglazed edge is a finishing step most makers skip — proof the piece is fired through, not surface-coated.
