A ceramic vase whose folded undulating form is shaped by heat and gravity during firing — no two pieces share an identical silhouette. Designed and produced by Audo Copenhagen.
The Audo Copenhagen Collapse Vase is shaped during high-temperature firing rather than thrown to fixed geometry. The clay undulates and folds under heat and gravity as it sets, producing controlled deformations that vary across each piece. Every vase carries a distinct outline reflecting how its specific clay body collapsed during firing.
Suited to fresh or dried arrangements
The fired ceramic holds water without sealing, supporting fresh-stem use as well as dried arrangements. The grounded base keeps the vase stable without additional support.
- Dimensions:
- H20: 7.9"H x 6.3"W, Weight: 3.32lbs.
- H30: 11.8"H x 6.3"W, Weight: 4.18lbs.
- Materials: Ceramic
- Heat-Formed Folded Ceramic – The vase's form is shaped during the firing process, where heat and gravity influence the clay's final position — the draped silhouette is a result of the forming method rather than hand-shaping after firing, which gives the form an organic authenticity.
- Subtle Variation Between Pieces – Because the final form depends on the specific behavior of each piece during firing, no two Collapse Vases are identical — the design is defined by a consistent forming method that produces consistent variation rather than exact replication.
- Controlled Undulation Across the Surface – The rises and falls of the folded surface create shadow lines that shift with the ambient light direction — the vase reads differently in morning versus evening light without any change to its placement or orientation.
- Grounded Profile for Shelf or Table Use – Despite the apparent motion in its form, the vase sits stably on a flat surface — the base is formed with sufficient area to prevent rocking while maintaining the folded character at all other points.
- Two Color Variants – Available in two ceramic colorways that each interact differently with the surface undulation — lighter tones emphasize the shadow definition of the folds, while darker tones unify the surface into a single material read.
