Dry to the touch and finely textured, a porcelain mug left unglazed so the bare clay grips the hand and deepens in character with age.
The Hasami Porcelain Mug in Natural is fired without glaze, leaving the porcelain-clay body fully exposed. The surface is dry and fine-textured, with a grip that smooth glazed ceramics lack, and it deepens in character as it ages. Its dense Amakusa-stone body gives the mug real weight and a rim that resists chipping under daily use. Hasami has been a heart of Japanese porcelain for some four hundred years, and the mug is pressed from stone and clay drawn from the same region.
Every piece in the Hasami range shares a 3.4-inch diameter and stacks flush, from bowls and plates to the wood lid that doubles as a cover or coaster. Begin with one, and the set grows without ever looking mismatched. It is microwave-, dishwasher-, and food-safe.
The Hasami Porcelain Mug in Natural is made in Hasami, Japan.
