A rug in hand-carded New Zealand wool, with a tightly looped pile and no cut sections. Designed in Stockholm by Nordic Knots and handmade in India. GoodWeave certified.
The Nordic Knots Bouclé Rug carries a dense, uniformly looped surface across the full field. Natural variation in the undyed, hand-carded wool produces quiet tonal shifts between fibers rather than a flat single tone. The loops read as one consistent height, with depth shifting subtly across the surface.
Looped pile resists matting
Tightly looped wool holds its form under compression in a way cut pile does not; the loops bend and recover rather than flattening permanently. Shedding is minimal given the looped construction and reduces further with regular use.
- Hand woven thick weave design: 0.39 inches thickness.
- New Zealand wool, for softness and durability.
- Designed in Stockholm, handmade in Bhadohi, India.
- Goodweave™ Certified
- Tightly Looped Bouclé Construction – The looped pile is woven at high density without cutting, producing a firm, knobbled surface texture that is distinct from both shag and flat-weave rugs — more structured than shag, more tactile than a flat weave.
- Hand-Carded New Zealand Wool – The wool is carded by hand before weaving, aligning the fibers consistently and reducing the surface irregularities that can develop in machine-carded wool — the result is a more even loop distribution across the full rug surface.
- Natural Tonal Variation in Monochrome Palette – The color range within each colorway comes from natural variation in the wool rather than dye application, so the surface has quiet tonal shifts that prevent it from reading as a flat, uniform field.
- Dense Surface Resists Compression – The tightly looped construction holds its pile height under foot traffic and furniture weight more effectively than loose or shag constructions — the surface profile remains consistent over extended use.
- Small-Batch Production for Weave Consistency – Limited quantities allow close control over loop density and height, reducing the variation in texture that appears in larger-run bouclé rugs where loop tension can shift across the width.
- Multiple Size Options Including 12x15 – Available from 5x8 through 12x15, with the larger format suited for open-plan living areas where a single rug needs to anchor a full seating arrangement without a secondary piece.
