A solid oak frame with rounded proportions and a separated, floating backrest. Designed in Copenhagen by Kristian Sofus Hansen and Tommy Hyldahl for NORR11.
The NORR11 Hippo Dining Chair carries the same rounded geometry as the Hippo Lounge Chair, scaled to dining proportions. The backrest sits separated from the seat with an open gap between the two elements. This reduces visual mass at the back of the chair and lightens the silhouette around a dining table.
Three oak finishes with textile or leather upholstery
The frame is available in natural, light smoked, or dark smoked oak. Textile or leather upholstery applies across all three finishes, with frame and upholstery specified independently.
- Floating Backrest Construction – The back panel is visually detached from the seat frame, which reduces the chair's visual mass at the table without removing structural support for the sitter.
- Sculpted Solid Oak Frame – The rounded joints and shaped legs are milled rather than assembled from flat stock, giving the frame a continuous, organic feel that distinguishes it from standard dowel-leg dining chairs.
- Three Oak Finish Options – Natural, light smoked, and dark smoked allow the wood tone to anchor a lighter room or recede in a darker one — useful when mixing with an existing table.
- Full Upholstery on Seat and Back – Both the seat pad and backrest are upholstered, so the chair provides cushioned contact at every point where the body rests during a meal.
- Wide Upholstery Selection – Available across a broad range of fabrics, the chair can be specified to match or contrast with the dining table, existing textiles, or flooring without needing custom work.
- Designed by Hansen & Hyldahl for NORR11 – The Hippo Dining Chair shares its design language with the Hippo Lounge Chair, allowing both pieces to coexist in an open-plan space without visual conflict.

This item ships from Europe via insured freight. Delivery is to your front door — for multi-unit buildings, delivery is to the building entrance. A signature is required upon arrival.
