The Sancerre Soup & Pasta Bowls sit wide and shallow rather than deep, with more surface for pasta and other sauced dishes to spread across instead of pooling in a cup shape. Pillivuyt fires the hard-paste porcelain at 2550°F, producing a dense, non-porous body and a glaze hard enough to resist the chips and scratches that dull softer dinnerware over time. Pillivuyt has produced its porcelain in Mehun-sur-Yèvre, France, since 1854, continuing a manufacture the family founded in 1818.
The same firing gives the porcelain thermal-shock resistance, so a bowl can go from the freezer straight into a hot oven, up to 550°F, without cracking. It's microwave- and dishwasher-safe as well, and every piece is made entirely in France, with the majority of raw materials sourced there too.
