Modular Ceramics Handcrafted in Nagasaki, Japan
Hasami Porcelain traces its origin to the Edo period, more than 400 years ago, when the town of Hasami in Nagasaki Prefecture established a divided-labor production method in which each piece passes through multiple specialized craftsmen. That system has remained structurally unchanged to the present day, distinguishing Hasami ware from regions where production has been consolidated or industrialized.
Each piece is formed from a proprietary blend of local porcelain and clay, fired to a density that makes the ware chip-resistant and heavier in hand than standard ceramic tableware. The range spans mugs, plates, and bowls in three finishes — matte black, gloss gray, and natural — across all forms. All pieces are dishwasher safe, microwave safe, and lead-free.
